Underground

I’ve recently been looking at the tunnel effects in Rail3D - and developing the code to produce dark tunnels and illuminated trains.

This layout is a model of part of the circle line and is designed to showcase the new tunnel features.

The layout

For the moment, the layout is centred on the Kensington / Earls court area and covers part of the circle line between Sloane Square and Edgware Road and the district lines to Hammersmith and Parsons Green. I choose this area for the mix of surface running, sub-surface tunnels and open cuttings.

Scenery

I’ve created scenery items for the tunnel sections and some of the open walled cutting sections. There is a lot more work to do on the stations - most of which are missing from the layout at the moment, but I’ve made a start on Earl’s court stations:
